Imperial Meeting 2023

Nine of our members shot in the 154th Imperial Meeting at Bisley in July. The first Friday was very wet and windy. Although the rain eased off during the week, the wind got stronger and caused 2 shoots (Conan Doyle and Telegraph) to be cancelled due to the danger of targets breaking. Five targets were damaged during a morning detail of the Conan Doyle before it was cancelled.

Four of our members got through to the second stage of the Kings Prize (Reg Curtis, Joe Baldwin, Ed Feast and Max Sheridan-Oliver) and Reg was successful in qualifying for the third stage and finished 83rd in the final.

Ed Feast shot well and finished 94th in the third stage of the St. Georges and 82nd in the Grand Agg. He was also reserve for England in The National.

We entered 4 teams into the concurrent matches and finished as follows:

Steward – 6th out of 34 teams

Belgian – 22nd out of 35 teams

Bank of England – 9th out of 34 teams

Rifle Clubs – 16th out of 37 team

Our best team performances for some time. Well done everyone! (Reg, Ed, Max and Paul)

Reg Curtis won the Gordon Bennett trophy for the highest placed club member in the Grand Aggregate (having not won it in the previous 3 years) and he also won the Spiriti Cup for the highest placed club member in the Kings Prize (again, having not won it in the previous 3 years). These trophies will be presented at the Club Championships in September. Several of our members were also selected to shoot and/or coach for their counties.
